Georgia L Rowswell:

Circularity, through secondhand purchasing for myself and my artwork, has been a part of my life for decades. I use discarded clothing to create ecologically friendly art pieces and through them, strive to communicate the need to respect and appreciate our environment. “Crazy- a Contemporary Quilt About Fashion’s Pressing Problems” is an ongoing collaborative project. While learning the slow craft of embroidery, I invite participants to engage in conversation about the environment and garment workers rights, I have conducted residencies, workshops and “embroidering in public,” throughout the USA and internationally. Art crosses the barriers of language and can be a powerful tool to engage the public in this conversation.
